Department of Health launches HIV campaign for farm workers

South Africa’s Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, will today launch his department’s first HIV and counselling campaign aimed at farm workers in Brits, in the North West province.

The aim of the campaign is to ensure that farm workers know their status early and to create a healthy environment for them, the department said in a statement.

The Department of Health will ensure that people who are HIV-positive have access to treatment, care, and support.

During the launch, the department will conduct the following activities:

  • Voluntary HIV counselling and testing;
  • Information, education and mass mobilization; and
  • Detection and management of sexually transmitted infections.
