Realities are changing at many of South Africa's public and rural hospitals, and the common actor is always the arrival of good people. Raising a hospital from a place of disease and desperation to a functional facility where people come to find treatment and health is without exception dependent on a team of good staff.

Despite its challenges, many people find working in rural and public health to be highly rewarding. The medical experience gained is both diverse and challenging, and one has the opportunity to feel truly appreciated in one's work, making a real difference in people's lives.
